                                                Pastor David A. Norman

     David A. Norman was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas in 1953 to the late L.C. and Jimmie Ann Norman.  He received Christ as his Lord and Savior and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at the age of 12.  Being raised by his mother in the grand ole Church of God in Christ, David started at a young age to work in different areas of the church to include:  Sunshine Band, Youth Choir, Jr. Usher Board, and Jr. Deacon Board. 

He graduated from Kennedy High School in Barstow, California in 1971 and continued his education at Barstow Jr. College.  David earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado (1975); Master of Business Administration Degree, Redlands University, Redlands, California (1998); Teacher Credentials (2004) and Administrative Credentials (2007).  He continues to work in education as a teacher for children with Behavior Modification issues. 

David continued to serve God faithfully during his years of pursuing higher education.  He taught Sunday School, served as the Youth Church President, Deacon and janitor.  He accepted his call into the ministry in 1980 under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Jones, Jr., Senior Pastor of the Barstow Church of God in Christ.  He continued faithfully as a minister and elder in the church, and was elevated to Pastor in January of 1990.  He served under Bishop Jones’ tutorship and succeeded him as the Senior Pastor of Barstow Church of God in Christ in 2001.

Pastor Norman has dedicated himself to helping people grow and mature in the Word of God.  He is a devout student of the Word as evidenced by his powerful teaching ministry, and is known for his hospitality and compassion towards all God’s people.  In 2006, Pastor Norman was appointed to the position of Superintendent of the Barstow District in the Southern California Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Roy Dixon.

Pastor Norman continues to work bringing all the churches within the district together in unity to worship God and work to build God’s Kingdom.  In January 2012, he was appointed as Second Administrator to Bishop Dixon, where he also serves as the Chief Financial Officer.   Pastor Norman continues to lead the Barstow Church of God in Christ while actively pursuing opportunities to witness to the world.  His desire is that none be lost!

Supt. Norman has been married to Naomi (Davis) Norman for the past 35 years.  To this great union were born twin sons, Malcolm and Martin.  Pastor and First Lady Naomi Norman have also been blessed with three grandchildren, Jada, Amaya and Davidmartin.
